Why designers still reach for Lorem Ipsum (and inline SVG)
A mockup fails when the words fight the layout. Lorem Ipsum has been the fix for that problem since sixteenth-century printers scrambled a passage from Cicero's De Finibus Bonorum et Malorum, written in 45 BC. That same passage is still what web designers and frontend engineers paste into components every day — and this generator keeps the source local: sentences are assembled from a fixed word bank inside the page, not fetched from an API.
The second half of the job is the picture frame. Layouts need blocks of a known size, so the tool builds image placeholders as inline SVG data URIs: a filled rectangle, a corner-to-corner cross, and a centre label printing the exact dimensions you requested. A 600 × 400 placeholder is genuinely 600 × 400 pixels, and the markup is a plain <img src="data:image/svg+xml,…"> tag you can drop into JSX, a Twig template, or a <figure> without adding a dependency on picsum.photos or placehold.co.
Everything runs offline. Fifty paragraphs is the hard ceiling — past that the tool clamps the value instead of freezing your tab — and a count of zero defaults to one, so the preview is never empty. For engineers working behind a corporate proxy, on a plane, or inside a design-system repo with no network access, that matters more than any feature list.
How to generate Lorem Ipsum and image placeholders
- Enter the number of paragraphs you need in the field at the top of the page — anything from 1 to 50.
- Tick “Add image placeholders” if the layout needs picture frames as well as copy.
- Set the placeholder width and height in pixels (600 × 400 is a good starting point).
- Click Generate, then use the Copy button on any block you want to paste into your project.
FAQ
How many paragraphs can I generate?
Up to 50 paragraphs; the tool clamps values above 50.
Can I generate images with custom dimensions?
Yes, specify width & height; the SVG will show WxH and is fully offline.
Does this tool rely on external services?
No, it builds text from a local word bank and generates SVGs in-browser; no network requests.
Why does the Lorem Ipsum come from Cicero?
It originates from Cicero's De Finibus (45 BC); the tool preserves that heritage.
